I’m a firm believer that a lot can happen in five minutes.
Too many times I find myself falling into the trap of thinking that I don’t have time to keep things organized. And with two toddlers underfoot, a business to run, plus all the normal daily activities I am busy.
But it takes less time to stay organized than you would think, so I’ve rounded up five organizing tasks you can tackle in five minutes.
1. Declutter one pantry shelf (from Food52)
Maybe you can’t clean out your entire pantry in 5 minutes, but you can sort through just one shelf, tossing anything that’s expired and putting similar items together.
2. Pick up clothes (from One Good Thing)
I don’t know why it really is so difficult to get dirty clothes into the hamper, but it seems so much easier to drop them on the floor five feet away from the hamper! When you’ve got five minutes, it’s a great time to do a quick sweep and get the dirty clothes up off the floor.
3. Clean out your wallet (from Life Your Way and Clean Mama)
From coupons, to change, to bits of trash, wallets seem to fill up quickly. You can keep that clutter down by taking just a couple minutes to clean out your wallet and put everything back in order.
4. Refill soap dispensers (from Organize365)
There is nothing quite as annoying as the soap dispenser being empty when you go to wash your hands. Taking 5 minutes to refill all the soap dispensers can save you from some hassle and the awkward try-not-to-touch-anything walk to another sink.
5. Clean out your car (from Camille Styles)
Cars are like the larger version of wallets when it comes to collecting a lot of random odds and ends. You never know when you’re going to have to give someone a last minute ride so being proactive and getting the car cleaned out before it’s crunch time can save you some peace of mind – and you won’t worry about anything blowing out next time you roll down the windows!
