Day 5: Anticipating Obstacles
It’s day 5 of the self discipline challenge. If you’re new, you can read what’s it all about here. Don’t worry, it’s not too late to jump in at any point. You’ll need the ebook 21 Days to a More Disciplined Life.
Today we’re focusing on overcoming obstacles. This is probably the area that I struggle with the most, so today’s reading really resonated with me. If you don’t encounter any obstacles when you’re trying to become more disciplined, then you can just skip right over today’s reading, but I’m guessing none of us fit in that category.
I like for everything to be neat and tidy, and I want a check in every box. Once I mess up, I feel like I’ve just blown it, so what’s the use? That is the opposite of the attitude I need to have. Mistakes will be made, obstacles will present themselves, and we need to keep on going. Obstacles can either be events outside of our control that happen to us, or they can just be our own laziness. Honestly, the hardest for me to overcome is dealing with my own failure.
I loved to today’s reminder not to let anything derail us.
My biggest obstacle thus far has been myself. Last night I stayed up too late doing things that didn’t have to be done and I did use the snooze button this morning. Tonight, I’m going to bed much earlier, and I will not snooze tomorrow morning.
How are you doing with your mega project and the habit you’re trying to cultivate? Have you encountered any obstacles? Have you made a plan to overcome them?
