As I’ve mentioned frequently here on the blog, the best thing you can do for your blog or online business is to nurture and grow your e-mail list. I promise, you won’t regret it! If you haven’t already started your list, do it now, and you’ll be thanking me in a few months.
However, you can’t just start your list, throw a sign up form in the sidebar of your blog, and wait for people to magically start signing up. I wish it was that easy, but it’s not! The good news is that there is way to get loads of people signed up for your e-mail list.
You need to offer them something in exchange for letting you into their inbox on a regular basis. You need an “opt-in freebie” or a “lead magnet.” You’ll create a piece of digital content (like a mini ecourse, mini ebook, or resource sheet) that really helps your target audience, and give it away to them for free when they sign up for your newsletter. It’s a win-win! Your audience gets an awesome freebie and you’ll get their e-mail address so you can keep in touch with them (which is really another win for them because they’ll keep getting super helpful info from you).
If you haven’t been offering an opt-in freebie like this, prepare to watch your e-mail list signups skyrocket! If you have been offering a freebie and your list isn’t growing like you’d hoped, maybe it’s time to change things up. Offer a new and better freebie. (And, hey, there’s nothing wrong with offering multiple freebies either.)
