I hope you all have noticed how I’ve been faithfully posting the next installment of this series daily, without ever skipping or combining days. Oh wait, that’s not me – that’s someone else. Due to the overly aggressive schedule of meaty daily posting, I won’t be combining days, since I don’t want things to get too ridiculous. You can probably see how this title might be a bit unwieldy: Days 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, and 31: Build Confidence in Yourself. I’ll spare you the horror (and me the embarrassment) of such a title. I’ll still be finishing out the 31 days, but the posts won’t necessarily be consecutive. Meaning I’ll finish a little later than the last day of October. No biggie.
One of the best ways to overcome fear is just to be more confident. Then you don’t even have to deal with that pesky fear thing in the first place. But how do you do that? How do you become more confident than you are today?
One of the best ways to build that confidence is by doing the little things that no one sees which make you feel better about yourself. Just be the kind of person that you want to be. Be self disciplined and exercise self control. Build great personal integrity. Keep promises to yourself and to others. Work hard. Even if you’re working hard at things that have nothing to do with your fears, you will still feel far more confident to face any fear.
From personal experience the times in my life when I was the MOST confident and least fearful were the times I was knocking all my little personal goals out of the park. When I get up at 5am, get in a 3 mile jog, pack my healthy breakfast and lunch, come home from my day job, prepare a healthy dinner, and then get straight work on my personal projects, I feel so much more confident than I do when I barely drag myself out of bed in time to get to work, neglect to pack my lunch, come home from my day job, skip my workout, eat ice cream for dinner, and laze around. Makes sense, doesn’t it?
